Old Medina of Tunis
Built during the 7th century, the medina is the historical and cultural heart of modern Tunis, a great place to get a feel for life in the city. In the 1970s UNESCO declared it a World-heritage site.
The Bardo is Tunisia's top museum, housing a collection of well preserved, prestigious mosaics in a beautiful Moorish palace which used to be the residence of the monarchs of Tunis.
Carthage has an idyllic location with superb views over the gulf. One of the greatest cities of the ancient world, today this World Heritage site has some interesting excavated remains and a fascinating museum.
Sidi Bou Saïd
This lovely blue and white hillside village overlooks the emerald bay of Tunis. Its winding, cobbled streets have shops selling antiques and traditional handicrafts and in the summer there are concerts of traditional Tunisian music here.
